Endothelial Cell Medium

Endothelial cells line blood and lymphatic vessels and the inside of the heart cavities. They have a highly flattened, polygonal shape and mostly rest on a basal membrane (depending on the capillary type). They connect with each other through desmosomes and tight junctions.

The endothelium, with one trillion (1012) cells, is one of the largest organs in the body and plays a key role in many physiological and pathophysiological processes (physiologically cell-mediated immune response, wound healing, inflammation, allergy, cardiovascular diseases, tumor growth, menstruation).

A variety of soluble factors circulating in the bloodstream or released by adjacent cells control the proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, migration, and leukocyte adhesion capacity of endothelial cells, thereby regulating, for example, the formation and regression of vessels.

  • Composition

Endopan 3 ready-to-use is a specially developed endothelial cell growth medium for the in vitro culture of human primary endothelial cells. It contains all components necessary for optimal growth and is designed for use in an incubator at 37° C with a 5% CO2 atmosphere.

Endopan 3 Kit is provided with FBS and supplements in separate sterile packing. This will enable the user to prepare a medium for special applications. For example, FBS, VEGF, FGF-2, or other components may be omitted from the complete medium for specific experimental settings.
