TEV & SUMO Proteases: tag removal made simple!

TEV Protease – the gold standard for fusion tag cleavage
Cleavage site: ENLYFQ↓X* – exceptional sequence specificity
Benefits: User-friendly, minimal side activity
Ideal for: Removal of C-terminal His-, GST-, or MBP-tags post-affinity purification
TEV Protease (recognition site E-N-L-Y-F-Q↓X*) is a very specific protease from Tobacco Etch Virus (TEV) that is used for cleavage of recombinant fusion proteins and removal of tags in vitro and in vivo.
* X = S, G, A, M, C or H
SUMO Protease – “scarless” and highly precise
Specificity: Recognizes and cleaves the structured SUMO tag without leaving extra residues
Benefits: No unwanted “scars” at your protein’s N-terminus, operates in gentle conditions
Ideal for: Highly expressed proteins due to high specific activity
SUMO protease is a highly specific enzyme that recognizes the tertiary structure of the SUMO (Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier) tag and cleaves precisely at the C-terminus, usually after the conserved Gly-Gly motif (...-Gly–Gly↓X) at the native junction between SUMO and the target protein, leaving no additional amino acids. It is commonly derived from the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and is widely used in recombinant protein purification for efficient and “scarless” tag removal.
Jena Bioscience offers TEV Protease in 2 concentrations as standard or highly concentrated solution and SUMO Protease at competitive price.
